On July 17th, 2025, the Siem
Reap–Shenzhen direct flight touched down at Siem Reap International Airport,
marking a new chapter in regional travel. The route now links Siem Reap to
Shenzhen, creating a faster and more convenient bridge between Cambodia’s
cultural heart and one of China’s most forward-thinking cities. This connection
is more than just a new route; it signals renewed energy in tourism and
cooperation between the two nations.
With travel time reduced
and accessibility improved, the new route is already drawing interest from
tourists, business travelers, and cultural explorers alike. Siem Reap, home to
the UNESCO World Heritage site Angkor Wat, stands ready to welcome a new wave
of Chinese visitors, many of whom are eager to experience Cambodia’s rich
heritage, cuisine, and warm hospitality.
More importantly,
Cambodians now have direct access to Shenzhen, a city known for its rapid
development, creative industries, and its vital role in the Guangdong–Hong
Kong–Macau Greater Bay Area. The direct flight opens doors not only for leisure
travel but also for educational exchanges, trade opportunities, and deeper
people-to-people connections. This new route may also serve as a stepping stone
to future flights connecting Cambodia to Europe.
The timing is no
coincidence. As Cambodia and China mark 2025 as a year of tourism revival and
strengthened ties, this new flight represents a significant step forward,
turning shared goals into action and bringing the two nations even closer
together.
The flight is scheduled
to operate once weekly by Air Cambodia, departing every Thursday at 9:30 PM and
arriving in Shenzhen at 1:00 AM. The return flight departs from Shenzhen at
6:20 AM.
This Siem Reap–Shenzhen connection is more than just a transportation link. It’s a symbol of economic momentum, tourism revival, and the enduring friendship between Cambodia and China. As the skies grow busier, so does the potential for mutual growth. With 2025 shaping up to be a landmark year for travel and cooperation, this direct route signals a promising future for both nations.
